For a standard 1 to 6 bedroom home that passes inspection, the price is the inspection and the certificate. There is no separate travel charge in the areas below.

Commercial work is quoted from R950. A property with more than one distribution board, or work outside a standard home, is quoted before the visit.
If the inspection finds faults
The prices above are for an installation that passes. If it fails, no certificate is issued at that price. The faults are listed and the repairs are quoted first. You approve the work before it starts.
Repair costs depend on what failed. A missing earth leakage is not the same job as rewiring. Do not budget only the certificate price if the installation is old or has had DIY work.
Solar and extra systems
Solar, inverter and battery work is not included in the standard home price. If the house already has a valid Electrical Certificate of Compliance, the new system is often a supplementary certificate and is quoted on its own. If there is no valid house certificate, the whole installation is inspected.
What changes the price
The area rate applies to a standard home that passes. The price changes if:
- the property is commercial
- there is more than one distribution board
- the installation fails and repairs are needed
- solar, an inverter or a generator must be included
