Yes. An Electrical Certificate of Compliance is only one of the documents a sale can require. Which others apply depends on the property and the offer to purchase. Phallies issues the Electrical Certificate of Compliance only.
Electrical Certificate of Compliance
This is the one required for the fixed electrical installation. It is issued by a registered electrical contractor after an inspection against SANS 10142-1. It is needed for most property transfers, and after new or altered electrical work.
It does not expire on a fixed date. For a transfer, conveyancers usually want one issued within the last two years, and it must still match the installation. If solar, an inverter or new circuits were added, a new certificate or a supplementary certificate is needed.

Other certificates you may be asked for
These are separate. A different registered person issues each one. We do not issue them.
Gas. If the property has a gas stove, gas geyser or gas fireplace, a gas certificate of conformity is usually required. It is issued by a registered gas practitioner.
Electric fence. If there is an electric fence, an electric fence system certificate is required. It is issued by a registered electric fence installer. It is not part of the Electrical Certificate of Compliance.
Plumbing or water. Some municipalities, including Cape Town, ask for a plumbing or water installation certificate. It is not a national rule for every sale, and it is not an electrical certificate.
Beetle. In some coastal areas, buyers or attorneys ask for a beetle certificate for timber. It is not an electrical document.
Rates clearance. The municipality issues this to confirm rates and services are paid. The conveyancer handles it. It is not an inspection of the house.
What to arrange
Ask the transferring attorney which certificates this sale needs. Book the electrical inspection early. The others, if required, are booked with the relevant registered person.
